Authorities are holding a suspect in connection with the death of a 17-year-old high school student who was stabbed along with four others while tubing on Wisconsin’s Apple River last weekend.

Nicolae Miu, 52, was arrested without incident by deputies from the St. Croix County Sheriff’s Office around 5:15 p.m. Saturday, about 90 minutes after the terrifying attack. Miu had already left when officers arrived, but they identified him from a photo taken by a bystander, police said.

Miu has yet to be formally charged but was arrested on charges of first-degree willful manslaughter, mayhem and aggravated battery with intent to cause great bodily harm, according to booking records. He will appear in court on Monday at 1 p.m. local time, Captain Tim Kufus told The Daily Beast in an email.

“The incident reports are currently being reviewed and a criminal complaint will be filed,” Kufus said.

The four injured victims, aged 22 to 24, were taken to hospital with multiple stab wounds ranging from serious to critical. They are all reportedly now considered stable.

Miu, whose motive is unknown, lives in Prior Lake, Minnesota, and works for an HVAC supplier in Minneapolis. It is not clear whether he has already hired a lawyer and was not available for comment. Miu’s wife, Sandi, hung up the phone when The Daily Beast contacted them on Monday.

While few details about Miu have been released so far, his online activity offers some sort of window into his personal world.

On Friday, a day before he allegedly killed a teenager, Miu shared a pro gun meme on his Facebook pageaccuses “communist” [sic]’ on the ‘obscure and delete’ social media platform.

Another shows similar support for the 2nd amendmentinsisting that “Guns don’t kill people, people kill people.”

Miu also seems to be enjoying the water, posting happy snaps from a trip to Minnesota’s Prior Lake last week. To be Facebook likes are includedincluding a group called “I Support Donald Trump”, a Blue Lives Matter page and one called “Attractive Chicks”.

The teen who was stabbed to death was identified as Isaac Schuman, who was about to enter his senior year of high school.

“He had an incredibly bright future ahead of him and we are all heartbroken and devastated that his future has been tragically and senselessly cut short,” the spokesperson said. The Schuman family said in a statement to local NBC affiliate KARE 11. “We deeply appreciate the overwhelming outpouring of love and support from our friends, Isaac’s friends and the Stillwater Community.”

One of the injured tubers, 24-year-old Ryhley Mattison, created a GoFundMe campaign Monday morning from her hospital bed, to ask for donations to cover her medical expenses.

“Some friends and I were tubing when we came [across] a group that asked for our help,” says the fundraiser. “My friends and I went to see what was going on and there was an elderly man who was inappropriate and was asked to leave but he didn’t. The older man eventually had a knife and stabbed some friends of mine and myself. I’m starting this money fund because I’ve currently lost my job and I can’t pay these medical bills and I’m struggling to make ends meet.”

Reached by phone, Mattison told The Daily Beast she was “really exhausted” after the ordeal, but would tell more later.

In previous comments on the Daily mailMattison said she and her friends had stopped to help a group of kids “who looked awkward.”

“There was an older man with them, so we stuffed our tubes,” Mattison recalled. “The guys went to see what was going on and then some of my friends and I went there too. They explained that this older man asked these younger guys if they knew any younger women or could get him the numbers of some younger women. It was creepy.”

Mattison said she couldn’t remember exactly what kind of words were being exchanged, but Miu suddenly drove off and punched one of her friends in the face.

“I don’t know if I said anything that upset him even more, but I remember him turning and staring at me and putting his hand to my stomach,” she said. “He looked like he wanted to hit me. I said to my boyfriend, I think he hit me, and, ‘Oh my god, that hurt.’ I looked down and I was bleeding because he stabbed me. After that I just remember we were trying to get away.”

Speaking to Twin Cities ABC affiliate KSTP, witness Kemany Coleman said that Miu was “pushing people” before pulling out his knife.

“It was crazy,” Coleman told the outlet.

At a news conference on Saturday, St. Croix County Sheriff Scott Knudson called the attack “chaotic” and “scary” and said the area hadn’t seen a crime like this in at least a decade and a half.

The Apple River is a popular spot about an hour east of Minneapolis. Equipment companies that rent equipment to day trippers establish rules, including:“No Litter,” “Respect other tubers,” and “No Illegal Behavior.”

“Yesterday was a difficult and tragic day on the river,” River’s Edge Campground posted on Facebook. “For over half a century, the Apple River has been known for its beautiful scenery and summer fun. Tens of thousands of visitors each year – millions in all – have enjoyed floating on the river with family and friends. Yesterday, an act of violence shattered that serenity. The River’s Edge family is saddened by this senseless act and our hearts go out to those affected and their families and friends.”
